Job Description

Senior Software Engineer, Mobile Developer

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, Mobile Developer for the John Deere Order Management Program Sales teams you will be responsible for collaborating with other engineers to develop and support new and existing functionality in the Order Management Sales space. In addition, you will:

  • Work in the area of designing and writing code in support of mobile sales applications
  • Work as an active member of a Sales Agile development team
  • Develop, code, configure, and test programs and systems
  • Evaluate and implement enhancement design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of software applications
  • Analyze assignments and determine software specifications that must be fulfilled to achieve objectives
  • Collaborate with other relevant stakeholders and team members to ensure that features meet business needs
  • Follow industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation
  • Mentor junior software engineers within the team and across multiple products
  • Lead engineering practices alongside engineering manager

What Skills You Need

  • Extensive knowledge of React Native development / React / JavaScript / ES6 / HTML / HTML5 / CSS / CSS3
  • Experience and knowledge of iOS and Android development / passion for mobile technology (Swift or Objective-C, Java)
  • 7 or more years designing, implementing and supporting web-based systems including native app development
  • Demonstrated ability to build integrated solutions across multiple IT platforms with an understanding of application development environments, database, data management and infrastructure capabilities and constraints
  • Extensive experience with TDD, XP and CI
  • Extensive knowledge of SbD (Security by Design practices)
  • Understanding of computer technology, methodology, and full life-cycle development with demonstrated ability overseeing technical implementation of software products
  • Strong desire to grow and learn in various leading-edge UI technologies
  • Experience coaching other team members to promote employee technical development and professional growth

Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:

  • 5 or more years of experience in designing, building and deploying multi-tiered applications and networks
  • Experience in backend tools and technologies like Git, MongoDB, GrayLog, Sonar, SOLR, AppDynamics, REST APIs, GraphQL, and CocoaPods
  • 5 or more years expertise in rendering page designs (wireframes / visual designs) into web pages (HTML, CSS, images, JavaScript)
  • Experience with Apple Connect and Google Play
  • Cloud experience
  • Experience with Agile development methodology

Education (or equivalent work experience)

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience in a related career field
